• The CENTROMAP has been providing health care in Tropical Diseases in Calcutta and elsewhere in Eastern India directly to the patients through its Tropical Disease clinic and / or through field visit in the villages of different provinces of Eastern India.

• In Jharkhand province of India, CENTROMAP is providing health service to the poor and needy rural patients from different villages through periodic visit of Prof.Dr.A.Nandy, to the hospitals of various other NGOs like PRADAN and Missionary Hospitals of different Diocese in the state.

• Supported by the Similipal Tiger Reserve, the CENTROMAP has established one Malaria Diagnostic cum Treatment Centre at Upper Barakamra Range Office of Similipal Forest of Orissa, to provide health service to the staff and local villagers.

• For promotion of safe tourism in India ,appropriately effective health advise is being given to both domestic as well as international tourists to Indian forest in particular, to prevent themselves from forest related tropical diseases, especially Forest Malaria.

The CENTROMAP , has been providing medical consultancy in the prevention of Malaria and other Insect Borne and Communicable Diseases in some of the most dreaded project sites in India. Hundreds of workers have been protected and several lives have been saved in those nastiest malaria prone forest areas like those in (1) Ajodhya hills of Purulia, West Bengal,(2) ONGC oil field construction sites in Tripura, both under Larsen & Toubro Limited , India, (3) Barbil Iron mining project sites in Keonjhar district of Orissa. (4) Tea gardens in Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal under Goodrick , (5) among the staffs of forest department Govt. of Orissa, at Similipal Biosphere reserve in Mayurbhanj, Orissa.(6) In Anugul, Orissa , at the Project site of Larsen & Toubro Limited , India, in the Bhusan Steel Ltd.

In 2007, following a request from the Border Security Force in Tripura , we have successfully developed malaria prevention and management guidelines applicable in the international border forest areas of Tripura. This was preceded by a thorough epidemiological, clinical and parasitological study among the troops and their out posts.

The CENTROMAP, organized a seminar entitled “Tropical Diseases Immunology” at Calcutta in March 2007. Participants were from the city of Calcutta and around. Several universities, institutions attended. The seminar addressed various aspects of the host’s Immune response and the host-parasite relationship in tropical communicable diseases and allergic disorders in relation to tropical countries.

Earlier , it had organized a National Seminar on “Malaria & Tropical Diseases : current situation areas of concern and future prospect”, at Baripada, Orissa, from 13-14th Feb. 2006.

• Regular training programmes and seminars on malaria, kala-azar, other tropical diseases are undertaken for Doctors, Nurses and paramedical workers of different NGOs at different places of Bihar, Jharkhand, Orissa and West Bengal.

• A novel Malaria Control Strategy has been planned and is getting executed for its field trial ,through Pulse Malaria Programme. It is expected that the result of this trial shall have global impact on malaria control strategy , particularly in the African region.

• In certain parts of India, the CENTROMAP, has started mapping Malaria from various aspects including social, ecological, epidemiological, parasitic and drug resistance.

• A project is underway to develop a new treatment strategy for Complicated and drug resistant P.falciparum malaria.

• We are in the final phase of evaluating the utility of Chemoprophylaxis in malaria of all category of individuals.

• We are studying the vector behaviour in various ecological setting in the Eastern and North-Eastern provinces of India and also trying to assess the utility of spending enormous amount of fund towards vector control.

• A malaria prevention kit named as “CENTROKIT®” has been developed and is being promoted to prevent death due to forest acquired malaria among the tourists. So far it has achieved a remarkable success in preventing death and suffering due to malaria among the travelers.

• A promotional activity has been started in favor of Insecticide treated bed nets (ITBN)to prevent malaria and kala-azar through personal interaction, meetings, and seminars. The Centromap is now manufacturing ITBN in the name of “CENTRONET®”.

• The CENTROMAP, in collaboration with Mandra Lions Club, Bagmundi, Purulia district of West Bengal, launched a malaria research and control programme in the tribal population of Ajodhya hills. Initial results indicate a sharp decline in malaria in the 5 target villages. During the project it has assisted to established a “Malaria Research and Management Centre” at Bagmundi of Purulia district of West Bengal.

• CENTROMAP has tied up with CRS-Calcutta and Operating Partners in Jalpaiguri District of West Bengal for Anti-malaria programme.

• In Jharkhand CENTROMAP has been working in collaboration with CRS-Ranchi as well as the Government of Jharkhand on Malaria and Kala-azar control.

• In collaboration with PRADAN, a national NGO, CENTROMAP has been undertaking field research as well as disease control programme for a very special situation of co-existing kala-azar with malaria.

• CENTROMAP has in collaboration with Asthma and Allergy Research Centre has established “CENTROMAP-AARC Collaborative Centre for Tropical Diseases’ Immunology” in Calcutta in 2007.
